PUBLIC TRANSPORT ( BUS )

This is the cheapest mode of transport in Goa. Most of the main towns of Goa are connected by road. The state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation is the main operator, although there are also other private companies. The bus services are frequent, though at times they travel at slow pace, making frequent stops. If you want to travel in comfort board the bus at the bus stand, the destination at bus stands are written in English. Pay your fares in the bus. The Kadamba Transport Corporation has started point-to-point shuttle services to and from Panaji; Ponda; Margao; Vasco-da-Gama; and the tickets to these destinations have to be purchased before boarding the bus.
The fares are as follows:

Panaji to Margao USD 0.50
Panaji to Mapusa USD 0.15

Panaji to Ponda USD 0.30
Panaji to Vasco USD 0.35
Margao to Ponda USD 0.20


TRAIN

With the opening of the Konkan Railway, it is possible to travel from Canacona to Pernem enjoying the hidden parts of Goa along the journey.

CAR ( RENTALS )

There are a number of companies that operate self-drive car rentals. Although it is expensive it is worth trying. Several companies have counters at the airport. It is usually cheaper to rent a car and driver for a specific trip. Some hotels provide cars for self-drive.

TAXI (HIRE )

There are two types of taxis in Goa, one is the black and yellow taxi and the other is the tourist taxi normally found outside hotels and at some beaches. The most common is Maruti van, a Japanese Suzuki minicab or minivan.

MOTORCYCLE RENTALS

Hiring a motorcycle in Goa is easy, and can be found at most of the coastal resorts. Though some travelers wanting to stay for a longer term prefer hiring for a month or two, you still can hire a bike for a day or weekend if you wish to travel from say Anjuna to Palolem for a change. The machines available are Enfield 350 cc, more modern Yamaha 100s and gear-less Kinetic Honda scooters which are more popular. You need an international license to ride in Goa. Some places need your passport and some deposit while a few just ask the name of the hotel you are staying at. On a rented bike you can reach the state's remote beaches and traverse long distances with relative ease. A word of caution, before driving away ensure the lights and brakes are in good shape.

MOTORCYCLE TAXI

Goa is probably the only state in India where motorcycles are a licensed form of taxi. If you are traveling on your own, this mode of transport is much cheaper. Licensed motorcycles have a yellow painted front mudguard and are found in large numbers throughout the State.

BICYCLE RENTALS

Most of the beaches have bicycle renting facilities, of late you can choose between the old hero standard bicycles to the more modern improved ones. Depending on the owners preferences you may have to keep a small deposit or even your passport.

BOAT CRUISES

With more entrepreneurs entering in these services, you can take a boat ride from beach to beach. sometimes snacks included. some even offer overnight packages.
